Hyundai IONIQ 6 voted Car of the Year by L’Annuel de l’Automobile 2024

Hyundai is proud to announce that its IONIQ 6 electric sedan has been voted “Car of the Year” by the editors of L’Annuel de l’Automobile, led by renowned automotive journalist, Benoit Charette.

Brossard, Qc (October 2nd, 2023) – Hyundai is proud to announce that its IONIQ 6 electric sedan has been voted “Car of the Year” by the editors of L’Annuel de l’Automobile, led by renowned automotive journalist, Benoit Charette.

This award is the result of an extensive voting process in which a panel of 10 experts who contribute to L’Annuel de l’Automobile formulate a list of their three favourite vehicles as well as three disappointments over the last year. Among the favourites, the IONIQ 6 appeared on the list for eight of the 10 experts. All categories combined, no other vehicle received as many votes as the IONIQ 6.

An extended list of awards


This new award adds to a long list of accolades won by the IONIQ 6 since its unveiling last year. The fully-electric streamliner notably won “World Car of the Year,” “World Electric Vehicle of the Year” and “World Car Design of the Year,” all awarded last spring as part of the World Car Awards at the New York International Auto Show.

In Canada, the IONIQ 6 was voted “2023 Canadian Green Car of the Year” according to the Automobile Journalists Association of Canada (AJAC) while the IONIQ 5 SUV won Auto123’s “Canadian Green Utility Vehicle of the Year” award two years in-a-row. In Québec, Le Guide de l’auto also recognized its appreciation of the IONIQ 6 by naming it “New Car of the Year” at the end of 2022.

In addition to the award of New Car of the Year, the Hyundai IONIQ 6 was also voted “Best Electric Car for 2024,” by L’Annuel de l’Automobile.

The IONIQ 6 was also named “Best Buy” in it category by Le Guide de l’auto 2024. In this other well known publication in French Canada, the IONIQ 6 also ranked at the top of a comparison test against three competing electric models.

About the Hyundai IONIQ 6


The 2023 Hyundai IONIQ 6 has set a new standard for Hyundai’s electric vehicles with a range of up to 581 kilometers and a fast-charging system that gains 322 kilometers of range in 15 minutes. IONIQ 6 is part of Hyundai Motor Company’s plan to introduce 17 BEV models and sell more than 1.8 million BEV units worldwide by 2030. IONIQ 6 goes on sale in Canada in Spring, 2023. Canadian pricing will be announced closer to the on-sale date.

The four-door electrified streamliner that is equipped with a 77.4 kWh Battery pack that can be paired with RWD and AWD configurations. The estimated driving range for a RWD is up to 547 kilometres, delivering 225 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. The AWD variant comes with a competitive range of 499 kilometres with 320 horsepower and 446 lb-ft of torque. The vehicle is equipped with relevant technology and best-in-class ultra-fast charging that can charge the battery from 10 to 80 per cent in just 18 minutes with a 350-kW charger.

IONIQ 6 comes with more than 700 Parametric Pixels found in the headlamps, rear combination lamps, front lower sensors, air vent garnishes and a center console reinforcing IONIQ’s brand identity. IONIQ 6 is the first Hyundai model to have Over-The-Air (OTA) firmware update technology. With OTA, IONIQ 6 users can use wireless connectivity to enhance the IONIQ 6’s performance or discover new features.
